McDonald 1 :: Daley 0

On Monday July 12, 2010 Chicago's new handgun law takes effect.  So what does this mean to you?

The new Chicago handgun ordinance can be downloaded in PDF from by the link at the bottom of this page.  It is not a long ordinance, but can be very difficult to read if one is not familiar with the legal terms.  Thankfully a second amendment friendly lawyer is willing to explain it all to you.

Attorney James Bosco has prepared two pages to help guide you through the process.  The first is a step-by-step process necessary to register your handguns to abide by the ordinance.  It can be found by clicking here.  The second is a FAQ which should be able to answer most basic questions regarding the ordinance.

Please note: the ordinance can -- and will -- change at any time and court cases will also impact the state of the law.  Neither document can be relied on to be current nor should be taken as legal advice.

If you seek legal advice please call the office and schedule an appointment to have all your questions answered.
